It is definitely important in the history of Hungarian-Chinese relations that the Chinese head of state visits Hungary, Levente Horváth, director of the Eurasian Center, former consul general in Shanghai, China expert, told our newspaper.

Xi Jinping last visited our country as vice president in 2009. The fact that he will visit our country in 2024 on the 75th anniversary of Hungarian-Chinese relations may be a sign that they wish to strengthen the otherwise well-functioning bilateral relations, which have shifted to an even higher level since 2010 with the policy of opening up to the east.

he added.

We can see the results of this continuously in recent years, as more and more Chinese companies invest in our country and set up their regional headquarters here. Hungarian-Chinese trade relations are also expanding, so this has certainly benefited Hungary and will continue to do so, the expert emphasized. Levente Horváth also spoke about how the opening to the East expanded and diversified our country’s trade relations, which meant not only Chinese but also South Korean investments.

From the beginning, China’s communication, like Hungary’s, was that the various conflicts should be resolved through peaceful negotiations. China’s anti-war attitude can also be seen in connection with the Russian-Ukrainian war, and it is also on the side of peace in connection with the conflict in the Middle East, and China was also the peacemaker between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Levente Horváth pointed out.

“Hungary and China are of the same opinion on this, and that is why a good relationship can develop between the two countries, since our country also supports peace against war. As a world power, the People’s Republic of China thinks similarly to our country, this is the so-called connectivity, peaceful cooperation between states, anti-war, as well as a stable state system and a stable economy, which is attractive to the Chinese government and Chinese companies in Hungary,” said the expert.

The bilateral political cooperation between our country and China is therefore excellent, Levente Horváth pointed out, thanks to which more and more investments and direct flights can be reported. Large-scale announcements can also be made with Xi Jinping’s visit. Levente Horváth also talked about the fact that the Chinese president is also planning a visit to France and that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz recently visited Beijing with a huge economic delegation.

And if the West can cooperate with China, why not our country, the expert pointed out.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó spoke in Beijing a few days ago about the fact that our country has become the number one European destination for Chinese corporate investments.

Six thousand billion forints worth of Chinese investment is taking place in Hungary, six thousand billion forints worth of factory construction is currently underway.

he declared. These investments are primarily related to the modern automotive industry.
