Many people consider the section called the Chesznek Serpentine to be the most dangerous section of the main road 82 connecting Győr and Veszprém, and many people enjoy the winding, steep route, sometimes irregularly, with the engines revving so loudly that you can hear the otherwise calm noise below the castle. but because of this in a noisy village. We wrote about it recently in our article, that the traces of accidents and the damage to the belt barriers must be repaired here as well. It is less talked about that driving here is a beautiful sight. Our reader thinks so, which is why the mentioned change came to his attention.

At the Serpentine in Czesznek, the trees, which were cut down by the owner of the area next to highway 82, together with forestry experts, became dangerous for traffic due to a disease called ash dieback.

THE Magyar Közút Nonprofit Zrt. according to the information sent to our newspaper as a response, there is a privately owned, so-called industrially planned forest next to the section of highway 82 in question, so the parts of the forest affected by logging works are not under the management of their company. It was also stated in the announcement that “the forest manager registered for the parcel of land, in possession of a valid forest plan, carried out the methods of wood use prescribed in the forest plan under the guidance of the forestry specialist staff”.

Most of the trees dangerous to traffic were affected by the so-called ash dieback. Unfortunately, this disease causes regression of the root system and canopy of tall ash trees. Decaying, weakened trees fall down more often, or even by themselves, in an unpredictable manner, during large gusts of wind. Ash decay also causes stem rot from the roots, but signs of root rot on the trunk and canopy cannot be detected by visual inspection alone – states the information sent to our editors.
