The Diána tér market should have been handed over at the end of November last year, as evidenced by the fact that the municipality originally wanted to organize an Advent program in the facility. However, the implementation of the left-wing investment was delayed by months, despite the fact that the ideas related to the market were already formulated years ago, and in fact, the funding source for it was already available in 2021. In addition, the facility was brought under the roof in such a way that the people living in the area also provoked fierce protests by the way dozens of healthy trees were cut down by the chainsaws of Attilá Péterffy.
Although the locals protested in vain, the MSZP-DK city administration, the local left-wing representative Schmuck Roland, did not listen to their request, which would have been related to redesigning the market in such a way as to take ecological aspects into account. At the same time, seeing that the construction of the facility was delayed by several months, there would have been plenty of room for redesign.
On Thursday, however, the press conference held in front of the still empty and closed facility was held by representative Péter Kamarás, the representative candidate of the Fidesz-KDNP-ÖPE alliance.
As he said they are looking for an answer to the question of why Péterffy is making the people of Pécs wait to hand over the market, since it was completed after half a year’s delay.
– The building is closed, there are no sellers, there are no buyers, the people of Garden City cannot enter
– He told. – Our opinion is that the mayor of Pécs, Ferenc Gyurcsány, wants to create a campaign event, a propaganda program, where he can pose, from the handing over of this building. We do not agree with this, and therefore, on behalf of the Pécs civic association, we call for the completed, closed building to be handed over to the residents of Garden City as soon as possible.

The locals also expressed their opinion about the market: one of them told journalists that although he sympathizes with the leftists, what doesn’t work should be said to be bad. According to him, the facility will be drafty, rats will also be able to enter. Another man, also left-leaning, added that they are also afraid of a price increase, and there are hardly any original producers on the market. They also complained that, according to them, rainwater on the south side of the market could flow into the hall.
