The Pest Central District Court sentenced a Serbian and a Bulgarian woman to prison terms to be executed, who, together with their unknown accomplices, tried to extort 200,000 euros from the representative of a Hungarian company, the Chief Prosecutor’s Office of the Capital City announced on Thursday.

According to the indictment, a Hungarian company advertised a property operating as an industrial site for sale in the summer of 2023. Some people decided to extort money from the company representative in connection with this real estate advertisement. To this end, a woman applied for the ad, who introduced herself as a representative of an Israeli company.

At the bidder’s request, the manager of the Hungarian company flew to Rome to negotiate the details of the sales contract.

In a restaurant, the man met two women – who remained unknown during the procedure – who pretended to represent the Israeli company.

One of the women said that their company would not buy the property, but that they also had a buyer to whom they would broker it, and therefore asked for 200,000 euros in 100-200 euro banknotes.

In a terrifying video of the kidnapping, the perpetrator dragged the woman away from the front door

A security camera captured a kidnapping in the United States.

His partner insisted that the man show that the amount was available in cash. They agreed that the victim would meet two other women in a hotel in Budapest, to whom he would show the requested amount, the chief prosecutor’s office announced. Shortly after the meeting in Rome, on June 26, 2023, the perpetrators agreed to meet the victim in a hotel in Budapest.

One of the women who appeared abroad called the man saying that two women around 25 years of age would come to her hotel. The latter – the accused – were the ones

they came to Hungary in order to evade the man’s attention and exchange the banknotes to be presented by the victim for the envelope carried by the Serbian woman, hidden in her clothes,

in which there were sheets of paper.

The police, who had been notified in advance by the victim, were waiting at the scene and arrested them, the General Prosecutor’s Office explained. The verdict is not final, the defendants and their lawyers have appealed for relief. The prosecutor’s office proposed to maintain the arrest of the accused, but the court rejected this, the statement reads.
