When we were there, the 10th-grade students of the Mihály Táncsics High School in Kaposvár, participating in the János Arany Gifted Care Program, were watching the process with interest. And, of course, there were those who also took a role in the production of bottle-necked calves.

The children were able to explore the area of the entire institution with the help of the program.
– We brought the students majoring in natural sciences, as it is believed that the women scientists of the future will emerge from them. It’s great that Girls’ Day is already available in Kaposvár and you don’t have to travel far to take part in it – He told Mrs. Anita Földesbiology-Hungarian teacher at Munkácsy Mihály High School.

In addition to the operation of liquid nitrogen, the girls also learned about fractals.
– I showed how many sides mathematics has, we can go in a thousand different application directions, I presented this through fractals. They could see where fractals occur and how they can be applied, he said Eleonora Stettner, Associate Professor of the Department of Mathematics and Modeling at the MATE Institute of Mathematics and Natural Science Foundations. The girls also built a Sierpinski tetrahedron, the groups assembled triangles from small elements, which when joined together grew into a large Sierpinski tetrahedron. Eleonora Stettner she said: she has also been teaching mechanical engineers for three years, of whom there are few girls. “Unfortunately, there were only two girls last year and this year, while there were more than twenty boys.” There could be many more, because girls are generally more skilled in the field of mathematics, said the university associate professor.

We need more female scientists

One hundred and fifteen students from five schools took part in this year’s Girls’ Day, jointly announced with the Women in Science Association. In addition to the Kaposvár institutions, the students of the Apáczai Csere János Technikum in Dombóvár were also able to gather interesting experiences. They try to draw attention to the role of women in science every year at the MATE Kaposvári Campus, with the program called Girls’ Day, which was the thirteenth in a row.
