The hospital inspections began, and there was one where the inspector appeared at three in the morning

The Ministry of the Interior has started hospital inspections, reports Elitmed.hu. According to the information of the medical portal, in the past few days inspection groups have visited the Honvéd Hospital, Szent János Hospital, Jahn Ferenc Dél-Pest Hospital, as well as Gyöngyös, Eger, Hatvan, Gyula and Hódmezővásárhely.

There was a hospital where the inspectors arrived at three in the morning.

Upon entering, they are asked to sign in at the front desk, and then they go through the wards based on a list: they look at the attendance sheets, enter the wards and examining rooms, count the patients, and also examine how the equipment is used.

The portal quotes a former healthcare manager who says that the inspection practice is only good for intimidation and sends a bad message about the judgment of healthcare workers who are already pushed to extremes. Dr. Rajháthy Beatrix, vice-president of the Hungarian Doctors’ Union (MOSZ), said: “We consider the method unacceptable, but we are employees, if the employer, the Chief Medical Officer, thinks it is right, we cannot do anything else, we tolerate it, even though it is very humiliating.” He added: they are sure that this will show how much more doctors work.

The Ministry of the Interior has decided to send inspectors to hospitals for more efficient care. The aim is to examine work processes, and the presence of patients is “visually checked”. The “health inspection and supervision service” also examines the provision of patient rights, patient waiting, the causes of waiting lists and the use of state financial resources. They also check whether a patient is actually in the ward and whether the hospital is not only accounting for his care on paper.

The General Directorate of National Hospitals (Okfő) notified the state institutions by letter about the inspections.
