On Eszék Street, behind the parking garages in the garden city, they wanted to build a dog run in the municipal area with the cooperation of Szilvia Bognár, leader of the Tiszta Kezek Frakció, who would have allocated one million forints from her representative budget for this purpose. In connection with the case, half a hundred signatures were collected, everything was prepared in accordance with the official procedures, so the local government, which runs on taxpayers’ money, should actually have approved the request of the citizens of Pécs.

This is how the dog run was created
However, the Péterffys did not do this, but first postponed it in February, and then rejected the citizens’ request in mid-April, even though it was clearly stated in the official document establishing the April decision that the request was completely legitimate. As they wrote, “in February, the substantive discussion was postponed because the census was in progress, the result of which was important and necessary in order to see the actual demand behind the initiative. This census lasted until 31.03.2024. Based on the evaluation of the incoming data, 40 of the 64 dogs registered within 500 meters of the proposed location are small dogs. There is no other dog run nearby, so the residents’ demand is justified”.
In the background of what happened, however, there may be a simple petty political revenge. Two members of the committee in question, Éva Siposné Bikali from DK, and Andrea Ágoston, another politician from the left-wing coalition allied with Ferenc Gyurcsány, were angry with Szilvia Bognár for daring to criticize Attila Péterffy.
At the last committee meeting, Siposné and Ágoston did not support the establishment of the dog run, and thus they went against the needs of the locals. Moreover, not only are they not representatives in the area, but they don’t even live in Kertváros. According to our information, both of them can spend their everyday lives in a family house in other parts of Pécs, where all the conditions for keeping dogs are given, and they do not need a separate dog walker.
Elsewhere they put it under windows
The Péterffy city administration established a dog run in Móricz Zsigmond tér in the Auth István area of DK without any problems. However, it was designed in such a way that it was placed in the immediate vicinity of the neighboring building. This disturbed the everyday life of the residents, who were also exposed to serious noise on weekends. The people living there therefore filed numerous complaints with the city leaders, who dismissed them for two years, but only started to take their case more seriously when serious lawsuits worth tens of millions were put into perspective, they went to court, and Fidesz representative Csaba Barkóczi from Ispitalja took a tough stand in their case. After two years of torture, they moved the runner a few tens of meters away.
