We still do not respect the speed limits – this is the short and concise way to summarize the Roadpol (Network of European Traffic Enforcement Bodies) Speed promotion held last week. The increased control affected the entire area of the county and all police stations, in the campaign all fixed and mobile speed measuring devices were put into service in order to filter out speeders from traffic, push back speeders and those who exceed the speed limit.

– During the campaign, our colleagues took action against 271 violators, imposed on-the-spot or administrative fines against 239 stopped drivers, and initiated administrative proceedings in 32 cases – we learned the county numbers from Lt. Col. László Koncz. The head of the traffic police department of the county police headquarters stopped by the Speedmarathon, which started at 6 a.m. on April 19, because that’s when the “fastest competitor” was photographed.

– The motorist “crossed the speed limit” at 144 on Debreceni út, where according to KRESZ rules, he could have driven at a speed of 50 kilometers per hour on the night of the 20th, which means that he is obliged to pay a fine of HUF 390,000 – the lieutenant colonel explained the penalty, from whom we learned: during the 24 hours of the marathon, 61 police officers took part in the inspection at 69 locations in the county. 9,420 vehicles were checked in front of the cameras, which were activated day and night, of which 254 exceeded the maximum speed limit, but the police took action in six cases due to other violations.
