Only the name has changed, the team, the goals and the unwavering enthusiasm have remained: organized by Béla Szikszai and Zoltán Hunyadi, this year an amateur car racing series called the Cívis Motorsport Cup will be organized in the county of Hajdú-Bihar. The main organizers made their debut last year with a five-round series, which caused huge recognition among competitors and fans of technical sports.
The series will continue this year, and like last year, there will again be five power tests waiting for the pilots.
The cup series starts on April 28, with the Auchan Slalom in Debrecen, in the parking lot of the hypermarket, and is expected to end at the end of December, at the Dakar Ring in Hajdúhadháza. We talked about the competition series with one of the main organizers, Zoltán Hunyadi.
From Auchan to Dakar
– There was no question about the continuation, it’s just about which locations we can organize the competitions. According to the current situation, there are five competitions in our competition calendar: the season starts with the Auchan Slalom on Sunday, April 28, the drivers can show their skills on the Debrecen Drive on May 25 and 26, the Dakar Ring in July, and again in September The Auchan parking lot will be the location of the competition, and then at the end of December, the field will visit Hajdúhadház, the Dakar Ring again – Zoltán Hunyadi listed the locations, and then turned to the season-opening competition.
Brand new trail
– This year is the third year we are holding a competition in the parking lot of Auchan. The four contests so far have proven that both competitors and spectators really like the slalom competition. The participants will compete on a completely new track at the competition starting at 9 a.m. on Sunday. The purpose of the amendment was to make the track as simple and clear as possible. We want to be kind to the competitors, so we are starting the season with a discounted entry fee, i.e. you can start the competition at last year’s prices. The registration has already started, currently more than 60 participants have submitted their intention to participate. In accordance with custom, we have maximized the number of participants at 100 entries, and if the list is not full by then, you can still register on the spot on the day of the competition. I would like to point out that anyone who wants to test their skills and their car within a legal framework can apply for the competition. Entrepreneurial pilots can choose from several categories, the opportunity is open to everyone, because a car equipped with a crash tube is not necessary, you can even start with a street car, but the use of a crash helmet is mandatory – stated the main organizer, who also provided important information for the spectators, and also highlighted:

– In addition to the competitors, the audience can also see star guests, for example Bészi Szikszai will hold a rally demonstration with his Lada VFTS, while Pro2 drift pilot Máté Tresó will race with a BMW E46 with a 400 horsepower, 540 newton meter Corvette LS1 engine roaring forward. The spectator car ride will not be left out either, which we are now combining with a prize game announced on the Facebook page of Cívis Motorsport, and the lucky ones will be able to sit in the racing car next to Bészi Szikszai. In addition, there will be spectator gifts, and die-hard fans can admire the racing cars up close, as the service park will be open to everyone, he added.
Red light for juniors
As in the last season, the organizers wanted to provide young drivers with the opportunity to drive in a safe environment under competitive conditions. But in the end, this cannot happen. – Officials of MNASZ (Hungarian National Motorsport Association) made a decision based on which people under the age of 18 cannot compete. Previously, we thought that this rule would only come into effect next year, but in consultation with the leaders of the association, it turned out that juniors cannot compete in the competitions this year either, so our hands are tied. We do not know the reasons for the federal regulation, but of course we respect and accept the rules. Based on this, we ask the competitors under the age of 18 who have pre-registered for the Auchan Slalom amateur car race to [email protected] register at the email address and we will refund your entry fee. Cívis Motorsport is still trying to educate young people in motorsport, which is why we are looking for opportunities for young people to get behind the wheel.
We are continuing the negotiations with the MNASZ, and we hope that young people will be able to drive in safe conditions on track days or designated training sessions in the future.
