9:00 a.m Commemoration and wreath-laying at the statue of St. Florian in Nyíregyháza

9:30 a.m Wreath-laying at the main entrance of the Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County Disaster Management Directorate, at the memorial plaque erected in honor of the brave and heroic stand of the Nyíregyháza firefighters

9:45 – 10:15 Firefighter parade, all the way to the city center

10:30 a.m Celebration at the Váci Mihály Cultural Center (closed event, open to the press)

17:00 The day traditionally ends with a fire service in the Roman Catholic church in Kállósemjén.

On the occasion of the 140th anniversary, the gate of the Nyíregyházi Professional Fire Brigade and the inscription FIRE DEPARTMENT were also renewed, the latter thanks to HM Arzenál Zrt. in Nyírtelek. In addition, the main entrance of the barracks has been expanded with a new wall detail, on which the name of the fire department can be read: Sztárek Ferenc Tűzoltólaktanya.

Stars Ferenc Tűzoltó Strength Test

Nyíregyháza, Kossuth tér

On May 4, the strongest and fastest firefighters will compete in downtown Nyíregyháza! With the test of strength, they commemorate the founding of the Nyíregyháza fire department 140 years ago, and pay tribute to its first commander, Ferenc Sztárek.

The purpose of the championship is to nurture and build sports and friendly relations!

Sixty people applied for the individual competition. Firefighters from, among others, Csorna, Eger, Nyíregyháza, Tiszaújváros and the capital also compete for strength and speed. Moreover, competitors will come from across the border, from Szatmárnémeti.

The test of strength on May 4th is open to the public, we welcome interested parties and fans to Kossuth tér in Nyíregyháza! The event will also be joined by the Eastern Hungarian Special Rescue Association, which is a quarter century old this year. In the city center, dog, rescue and alpine techniques are also being prepared.

Those interested can see ambulances and police on Kossuth Square, but the Association of Hungarian Reservists will also be there. There will also be a medical screening bus and a children’s corner.

After the competition, during the summary of the results, a firefighting demonstration will be held on Kossuth Square.

(The times of the afternoon programs shown on the poster may change depending on the races of the competitors – it is expected that the fire brigade demonstration and the announcement of the results will also start at an earlier time.)
