At the meeting of the Hungarian-Azeri joint economic committee, the head of the ministry emphasized that the friendship and strategic partnership between the two countries has been going on for fourteen years now, from which both sides have benefited a lot, MTI wrote.
“I remember that those who harshly criticized us for this at the time are now scrambling for a joint photo with your president,” he said.

Péter Szijjártó announced that last year the bilateral trade reached a peak of 120 million dollars, which is an excellent basis for further expansion. He then reported that he was accompanied to his visit by 34 company managers representing 23 Hungarian companies, who will conduct a total of 152 business negotiations with Azeri companies.
He underlined that energy cooperation has greatly contributed to our country’s security of supply, and that this is more important than ever in the current circumstances.
In this regard, he called the start of natural gas transport from Azerbaijan to Hungary an important milestone, and reported that the start of transit this year may allow for an increase in purchased quantities, which both parties are open to.
Finally, the minister also mentioned that Hungary is participating in the reconstruction of Nagorno-Karabakh, which was recaptured by Azerbaijan last year, including the Soltanli settlement located there. According to his information, plans for the reconstruction of the settlement are already being prepared, this phase will be completed by November this year, and the construction will be completed by the end of next year.
