Since students spend a significant part of their weekdays at school, it does not matter at all what kind of environment surrounds them and how comfortable they can study in an institution. The local school considers it a priority task of the Csolnok German Nationality Self-Government as an institution maintainer continuous development and energy efficiency.

President László Szax said that the first milestone of the several-year renovation was the replacement of the roof, and then the mechanical engineering and the heating system became more modern. In recent years, the external thermal insulation of the building took place, which significantly reduced the maintenance costs of the school. The renovation of the entire upper level has also been carried out, and students can now study in demanding classrooms that meet the needs of the age. In addition, the staircase was also beautified.
The goal is to strive for energy efficiency
– Last year, the German National Self-Government of Csolnok successfully applied for the support of investments to increase energy efficiency announced by Bethlen Gábor Alapkezelő Zrt. We received a HUF 9 million non-refundable subsidy for a solar system for installationand the remaining amount needed for the investment was provided by the institution from its own budget, he recalled.
He added that, as a result of the development, the use of the solar system could cover the building’s electricity needs to a large extent, and the operating costs could be significantly reduced.
– Thanks to another successful tender, we will equip the classrooms with cooling and heating air conditioning equipment in order to increase the school’s energy efficiency. During the transition period, the devices will be able to more efficiently keep the rooms warmer with the electricity generated by solar energy, and on warmer summer days, the students can be provided with a pleasant environment by means of cooling. According to the plans, the equipment will be installed after the current school year, so we can even use them in the new school year starting in September, he said.

Developments
Located in Kossuth Lajos Street, next to the sports hall and the swimming pool, the school is also at the forefront of the region, and can set an example for other educational institutions with its commitment to sustainability. László Szax also said that the ongoing renovation of the building did not end with the current development, as they have further plans for the future. Among their ideas is the modernization of the lower level, as well as the reconstruction of the school yard. Currently, they are still looking for what support scheme they can use to implement further developments.
