– revealed from RTL’s coverage on Thursday. At the preparatory session held on Wednesday at the Military Council of the Debrecen Court, they began to discuss a 2022 indictment, which accuses the seven guards of the Fazekas Street prison in Miskolc of having participated in or assisted in the abuse of a prisoner who broke the nose of one of the prison guards.

According to the documents, the inmate called a doctor claiming to be unwell, the doctor entered the cell in an attempt by a prison guard, where the prisoner had to be arrested, and hit the prison guard during the fight. The colleagues of the victim immediately rushed to the cell, handcuffed the prisoner, and took him to the medical room, where

the guards beat the prisoner’s head against the wall, then kicked the defenseless man who was on the ground.

Five people took part in the beating; a female prison guard and the captain in charge of duty were only present as an eyewitness, but the incident was not reported to the prison management. The prisoner suffered serious injuries.

Among the defendants are those who, according to the prosecutor, did not hurt the prisoner, but saw what the others were doing to him, yet did not tell anyone. At the preliminary hearing, the prosecutor asked for a prison sentence of 6 years and 6 months for the most active participant in the beating, and only a suspended prison sentence for the female prison guard who failed to report. None of the defendants pleaded guilty.
