The uniformed officers searched a Bulgarian truck in Gyula that was transporting various collectibles to England. A total of five hundred plastic bags filled with pills and ampoules containing hormone and steroid products were found hidden in the factory compartment in the large truck. It was accompanied by an unusual patient information sheet, as the package included a handwritten guide in Bulgarian, the National Tax and Customs Office informed. The driver said that he was not entrusted with the transport of the preparations by the carrier, but that he was taking them as a favor.

The expert also examined the various medicines, hormone and steroid preparations, and then established that these products would require a prescription for medical use. Photo: NAV

The various medicines were also examined by the expert, who then determined that these products would require a prescription for medical use. Their quantity exceeds the dose that can be prescribed on the basis of a doctor’s prescription, and the conditions of delivery do not meet the minimum required for medicines. Due to the lack of the necessary documents, it was suspected that the products were fake. In order to carry out the further procedure, the uniformed officers notified the staff of the Békés Vármegyei Police Headquarters.

All activities related to the procurement, importation, and delivery of medicinal products to the customer may only be carried out in possession of a pharmaceutical wholesale license. In recent years, countless fakes have appeared on the market, which can have harmful side effects for consumers, as they have not undergone the prescribed inspection and authorization process.
