The development of the village’s playground in the Hungarian Village Program has been completed: new, modern, metal elements have been installed.
We have also submitted a new application to the Hungarian Village Program for the external-internal insulation of the municipal building, this has been put on the reserve list, we are confident of a positive assessment

The municipality listens to the needs of the population
István Boros, who has led the village since 2006, added that, according to the plans, in the future, they would also like to renovate the sidewalks and the funeral home, as soon as they manage to request funds and apply for it. Long-term plans include waste water investment and sewerage.
The population continues to receive a variety of subsidies: they receive school enrollment and Christmas subsidies, social firewood, they do not have to pay communal tax, the municipality pays for garbage collection, as well as half of the residential water consumption fee. The amount of the price increase in public catering is also covered by the municipality, thus keeping the price of the canteen stable.
Infrastructure and everyday life in the small settlement
The population has stagnated in recent years. Fortunately, the small village is thus not on the path to depopulation.
I believe that the settlement must be made livable, and all applications must be seized in order to move forward. It is important to prevent depopulation. Of course, this also requires the will of the population, but the local government will give them whatever support it can, for this it is important to know the needs of the residents

He also told about it, although the settlement referred to Kétújfalu, which is located two kilometers away in terms of infrastructure, since there is a doctor’s office, a kindergarten, a school there, and thanks to the village bus that was also received in the Hungarian Village Program a few years ago and the village caretaker service, this distance can be bridged within minutes, the affairs of the population management can be realized in this way.
Community programs and holidays in Szörény
In Szörény, last year’s Advent Christmas event was a success, combined with a show and candle lighting, and this will be held this year as well. On the occasion of Santa Claus, the children of Szörény received a package at the Santa Claus Castle in Kétújfalu.
The village community likes to gather for trips. The destinations are varied, in addition to going to the beach, they have also visited Ópusztaszer.
The library bus of the Csorba Győző Könyvtár comes to Szörény every two weeks, which also gives you an opportunity to recharge your batteries.
As for the spiritual life, the settlement has a reformed church, which was built in 1817. The pastor of Szörény, which belongs to the Drávafoki Reformed Congregation, is Károly Unger, and the Catholics, together with Kétújfalu, belong to the Kaposvári Diocese, to priest Dániel Csertán of Mernye.
