The Avasi district will undergo a development in the near future that it has not experienced in 50 years.

One of sixteen city districts the Avas city center may undergo the most spectacular development. Developments in the area of the Territorial and Settlement Development Operative Program Plusz (TOP Plusz) affecting Miskolc until 2027 were discussed at the press conference on Wednesday afternoon, at which Tibor Szopkó reminded that the city government intends to use a significant part of the nearly thirty-two billion HUF resources to make Miskolc developments that affect the daily lives of the people living there should be implemented in its districts, and “Miskolc should not be full of spectacular investments”, Tibor Szopkó quoted Minap as saying.

According to the city manager, it is therefore extremely important that the government reaches an agreement with the European Commission as soon as possible. Until then, the city will not be able to implement the plans for Hejőcsaba, Szirma and Dísz tér on its own. We learned from him: Miskolc is still in a relatively good position, given that the EU treats us as a priority settlement, that is, it awarded the settlement the above item directly, rather than through the government.

The first phase of the Avasi housing estate was built in 1973. Dénes Szarka noted, not only as the municipal representative of the district, but also that the recent development of Avastető also showed how the lookout tower and its surroundings were in need of renovation in the past fifty years in the part of the city that was considered extremely modern at the time.

Presenting the concrete visual plan, the development councilor said: the new image of the city center may be able to win the favor of both the locals and those living in other parts of the city. At the same time, he expressed his gratitude to the locals who tidied up the area in front of the post office of the town in recent years as a result of civic activism.

Meanwhile, the fountains of Miskolc were also renewed. The city’s two largest fountains will operate more reliably in the future: the controls and pumps of the units located on Hősök tér and Erzsébet tér have been completely renewed in recent months, he announced on Wednesday morning Dénes Sarkachairman of the municipality’s city management and operation committee and Béla Kertésztechnical manager of Miskolc Városgazda Nonprofit Kft.

“By the way, as spring approaches, we started spring work, cleaning, inspection and maintenance at all currently operating fountains in order to ensure that all of them can start properly on City Day,” said Béla Kertész.

As we found out, the renovation of the two fountains cost sixteen million forints. The fountain in front of the Center has also been renovated in recent years. The work, together with the two drinking fountains, are the most famous works of industrial artist Klára Balatoni. According to the information of kozterkep.hu, the construction of the work, which was quite unconventional at the time, began in 1985 and was handed over in 1988.
