The Kaposvár District Prosecutor’s Office filed an indictment for the crime of robbery against the man in his thirties, who – according to the indictment – took advantage of the defenseless state of the victim traveling with him on the train and stole his nearby wallet.
In August 2023, the accused traveled in a railway car with the victim alone on the Gyékényes-Kaposvár line. During the journey, while waiting for the guide, the victim placed his mobile phone and wallet next to him – with his documents and HUF 40,000 in cash – but fell asleep while waiting, the Somogy County Prosecutor’s Office wrote in a statement.
The man then decided to get the wallet of his sleeping companion, so he took it from her and got off the train with it. The man kept the victim’s cash, but left the wallet with the documents in a Kaposvár tobacco shop the same day, giving the impression that he had found it.
The police caught the man quickly, so the victim got all his valuables back.
In its indictment submitted to the Kaposvár District Court, the prosecution proposed a suspended prison sentence and a fine against the defendant with no criminal record.
