Zsolt Wintermantel talked about
the renovation works of the City Hall building began in 2022. In the spring of 2023, the experts working on the project noticed that “there are serious errors on the facade related to the execution of the plaster” and tried to maintain continuous consultation with the construction company. Pieces of plaster were torn off the facade.
The project manager also wrote a notice letter to the contractor, which was not sent by the relevant department, he said.
Zsolt Wintermantel also said that the contractor wanted to pay HUF 43 million for the purchase of materials, but the contract does not allow for this.
The office worker in charge at the time suggested that since the contractor was not performing according to the contract, he should not submit an invoice until the defective performance was resolved. After that, this official was “removed”, said the politician from the ruling party.
Reacting to all this, Deputy Mayor Ambrus Kiss said that “no official was removed from the office”, the investment was not finished, the work is still ongoing, the inspection of the plaster really had to be done, and the repairs were started. Materials related to the investment will be published, he said.
