The Hungarian public can watch the competition of the 12 best strongmen in the world on April 27 at the Aquaworld Resort Budapest, the Hungarian station of the Strongman Champions League. Am I right that it is a great honor for Budapest to host the April 27 strongman competition?
Indeed it is! A competition of this quality has not been organized in our country for 10 years. Budapest became one of the stops in the world’s largest strongman competition series. We have been preparing this serious event with the international organization for two years. Budapest is one of the stops in the competition series, which consists of 16 rounds every year. 12 very strong strongmen from the 4 continents of the world are coming to Budapest, and we can delegate 2 people as the organizing country. Péter Juhász and Alex Véró will represent our country. This is Péter’s third year competing among the biggest, and this will be Alex’s first competition of this type. The 5 special events of the Budapest round are car pulling, keg packing, suitcase carrying, viking pressure, conan round. The international organizers selected these 5 numbers based on our suggestions.
How long does it usually take to complete a 5-type task?
The running of the competition covers approximately one afternoon, together with the additional programs, since when the competitors are resting and regenerating during the break, a speaker keeps them engaged and entertains the audience. Such a competition is very spectacular. It attracts many people, hundreds, but there are places where thousands gather abroad for the test of strength of the strong. The Aquaworld Resort Budapest is a great location, where 1,800 people visit on weekends, it is certain that many people will visit on April 27. More and more people inquire about the competition by phone.
How do you see Péter Juhász’s chances?
Péter is an extremely well-prepared competitor whom I have been accompanying as a sports manager for 4 years. I am sure that he wants to make a huge surprise at home with his performance. I am confident in Péter’s podium finish, although a particularly strong field was assembled at the Budapest competition, as 5 competitors from the world’s strongest elite will be here. Many international competitions are organized to measure strongmen, but in Budapest, one of the strongest fields is really on display.
How do you see how recognized the sport of strongmen is?
This sport is very popular, the public likes and respects those people who possess their strength through a lot of training, can handle it smartly, but at the same time remain humanly humble. Peti is especially this type, who is loved by the camera, he does not exaggerate his performance, but he can also communicate well with the audience. The competition is broadcast in 106 countries, which shows the enormous recognition and acceptance of this sport. Great respect surrounds these people who build their muscles with years of hard work. The competition also has a country image-building aspect, where companies also have a good opportunity to appear. Many companies have already supported us, but we are still looking forward to a few sponsors. We try to create as spectacular a location as possible, we have designed Hungarian motivations on the decorations and competition equipment, and the gifts have also been thought up from the Hungarian theme.
