In the Clinical Center of the University of Debrecen, the Rheumatology and Immunology Clinic, which was established on May 1st, and the Internal Medicine Immunology Center serve to provide even higher quality care for immunology patients. Thanks to the close cooperation of the two institutions, the organization of patient trips can be more efficient, and patients can receive the appropriate treatment more quickly. Tens of thousands of patients are received each year

The Rheumatology Clinic became an independent clinic in 2021. In the institution, the basic rheumatology departments treat degenerative locomotor diseases that can be considered folk diseases (for example: arthrosis, spondylosis, osteoporosis), as well as II-III. at the progressive level, approximately four thousand patients with inflammatory or autoimmune rheumatic diseases are cared for (for example: rheumatoid arthritis, spondyloarthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus).

This means 35,000-36,000 outpatients and 1,400 inpatients per year.

The clinic will continue to operate under the name Rheumatology and Immunology Clinic from May 1st.

– The name change covers the patient care activities we have been carrying out for years, thereby facilitating the orientation and work of patients and fellow professionals. We are diagnosing more and more diseases related to inflammatory rheumatological and systemic autoimmune diseases. In order to be able to continue to provide patients with a high level of care, the close cooperation of the Rheumatology and Immunology Clinic and the new Internal Medicine Immunology Center is absolutely necessary, since we work with a similar patient profile and the full performance of the tasks requires a joint commitment. As a result of the newly established care structure, patients can receive quality care in more specialized appointments, within a shorter time than before. We want to make use of the joint work in the field of education and research as well – said Gabriella Szűcs, professor and director of the Rheumatology and Immunology Clinic, to the university portal.
