“There is no more joyful moment in the life of a university leader than when the university hall is full of young people, because then we feel that the University of Miskolc has a future, and if the university has a future, then the economy of the county, and in this case the chemical industry as well,” he began his speech Prof. Dr. Zita Horváth, rector of the University of Miskolc. In terms of Hungary’s economy, Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county is the largest chemical industry center, and it will remain so if they can continuously ensure supply. The goal of the University of Miskolc is to be an educational institution where young people can get the highest level of knowledge and there are companies that need this knowledge, so that the future generation will find their prosperity in this region, the rector concluded.

Record number of participants

András Papp, the managing director of the KISS group of companies, also spoke to our newspaper about the importance of recruitment: “We have been dealing with vocational training for more than ten years, we consider it very important that recruitment is adequate, so we take every opportunity to ensure that students receive adequate information about what careers are available in this field , and get a taste of the industrial environment in a playful way. It is important that aging professionals can pass on their knowledge to future professionals. We want to give the children experiences so that they can choose a career from which the company, the industry and the economic environment can benefit in the future.”

Students came from all regions

Chemistry teacher at Szent Márton Catholic High School and Primary School in Sikszó, Veronika Nánási he came with three students who, according to their plans, will graduate in chemistry, they are attracted to this course. “I wanted them to see what the university is like, what they can expect, and we also want to find out about the possibilities of dual education,” he said, explaining why he considers it important to participate in the career orientation day.

46 sixth-grade students arrived from István Bocskai Elementary School in Hajdúnán with four teachers interested in natural sciences. I would like to arouse the children’s interest in science subjects, and this event provides a fantastic opportunity for this, it is the second time they have come, he said.
