Thanks to the rainy weather, the risk of fire has decreased, so from Thursday the ban on lighting fires will be withdrawn everywhere, except for Bács-Kiskun County, the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) announced. According to their information, the decision to withdraw the ban was made in consultation with the National Directorate General of Disaster Management.

They wrote that, based on the weather forecast, overcast and cool weather is expected in the next few days, with occasional showers. The predicted weather conditions will increase the humidity of the air and dead biomass, as a result of which the risk of fire is expected to decrease further, therefore the authority will withdraw the fire ban in the counties of Csongrád-Csanád, Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok and Hajdú-Bihar from Thursday.

In the county of Bács-Kiskun, the authority continues to maintain the fire ban,

since the amount of precipitation does not justify the withdrawal for the time being. Nébih draws attention to the fact that, even after the cancellation of the ban on lighting fires in forest areas, it is only allowed to set fires in windless weather, in designated and constructed fire pits, it is dangerous and forbidden to leave them unattended.

Those interested can find out about the rules for lighting fires on the erdotuz.hu website, because a forest fire can easily start if they are not followed. At the beginning of April, large forest fires also raged in Greece: 72 fires in agricultural areas were reported in one day, mostly in Crete and the central part of the country.
