An injured Singaporean hiker was rescued from the Mátyás-hegy cave

In the Mátyás-hegyi-cave, minor accidents only happen a few times a year, the last one involving personal injury was in August 2022.

The load due to the constantly increasing number of visitors, the drought periods due to climate change and the alternation of extremely heavy rains also have a negative effect on the stability of the stone walls – they explained, adding that the future of tourism and re-visitability of the Rám ravine will be determined in the action plan based on the Park Forest’s expert investigation , until then, all forest visitors are asked to be patient.

The Rám ravine is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the forests around Budapest managed by Pilisi Parkerdő Zrt., and is deservedly one of the best-known hiking spots in the region, they wrote.

The ravine itself is a gorge valley of volcanic origin, roughly running in a north-south direction. Its tapering rock walls are sometimes perpendicular, but there are also walls that slope inwards. Its depth exceeds 35 meters in several places, while its width does not even reach 3 meters in some places. Hikers have to overcome a 112-meter difference in level in the gorge. Due to its natural features, it is one of the most difficult marked tourist routes in Hungary, where rockfalls and rockfalls can occur, which is why Pilisi Parkerdő has indicated through all possible channels and ways: everyone can visit the Rám ravine at their own risk, they reminded.

This year, the popular series of tours in the magical mountains of Hungary will start again

The Hazajáró Egylet will also announce the Hazajáró Cup tour series in 2024, the aim of which is to popularize the magical mountain regions of our historic country, encourage participation in our tours and strengthen the Hungarian communities of the Carpathian Basin.

It is important information for hikers that the yellow lane sign running in the Lukács ditch can be used as a bypass route for the Rám ravine.
