Disaster management should start mosquito control in Budapest too! – called Sándor Szaniszló, the leader of the DK’s capital faction, at a press conference held before Wednesday’s session of the Capital Assembly.
The XVIII. the mayor of the district reminded: due to the climate emergency, the mosquito season has “come forward” in Hungary as well, in the capital this is the responsibility of the Metropolitan Disaster Management Directorate. However, in recent years, as he said, this work is “either incompletely performed, or not performed at all.”
He added: the DK’s Budapest faction will therefore appeal to the National Directorate General for Disaster Prevention on Wednesday to start mosquito control in Budapest. He indicated: on May 1st, there will be mass events and family days in the capital, and “the people of Budapest also deserve what the tourist-focused places”, that is, that the location of the major events should be mosquito-free. He recalled that last year it was not possible to apply for voluntary blood donation from two districts because tiger mosquitoes were detected.
Sándor Szaniszló indicated: heartworm in dogs is also a factor that requires mosquito control to be ordered as soon as possible. According to him, every fifth pet may be in danger, which affects 40-50 thousand animals in Budapest.
Anett Bősz, the deputy mayor responsible for human affairs delegated by the DK, said: the alliance of social democrats and greens showed how to serve the interests of citizens even during the energy crisis and the coronavirus epidemic. As he said, at Wednesday’s general assembly and at the committee meetings that preceded it, there were and will be several matters on the agenda that they can be proud of, and it is possible to discover how the Social Democrats and Greens “perceive the service of the homeland” and which they would undertake to implement Klára Dobrev , through the government of the shadow prime minister of the DK.
As an example, he mentioned the Trambulin scholarship created for disadvantaged students, which, according to him, can stop the process of social disadvantage becoming a learning disadvantage, for which a mentoring program was also created.
He said: the general meeting will decide on the joint child-pension daycare to be implemented from the community budget. The deputy mayor indicated that the program will be extended because there is a demand for it, not only in the capital-maintained institutions, but also in the district-maintained ones.
Anett Bősz said: the reports of the cultural institutions also show that in the extremely tight budget situation created by the government, they “were able to move forward” and that the capital can operate a colorful social and cultural palette.
