The entry categories for the Helikon Festivals range widely. Entrants can compete in twenty categories, which will be divided into nine groups during the Helikon weekend: literary works category, theater category, poetry and prose recitation category, visual arts, classical music categories, light music, movement art, modern dance and other categories, folklore categories, choir categories , motion picture and multimedia category.

Helikon: an experience for all students.

In these, young people can earn gold, silver and bronze qualifications, special prizes, the main prizes of the categories, and the wanderer’s cup – this was taken home by the Pécs Cistercian Order’s Lajos Nagy High School two years ago, but the high school students from Baranya achieved many other successes.

More than 100 productions from Baranya will be presented at the Helikon Festival in 2024

Pupils from Lajos Nagy, ANK, Janus, Kodály, Leőwey, Művészeti and Babits in Pécs, as well as Kálmán Brázay Primary School, High School, Vocational High School, and Vocational Training School in Hertelend, Hungary, submitted a literary work, with a total of 8 works.

In the motion picture and multimedia category, individual and team applications were sent by Pécs’ Gandhi, ANK, Janus, Kodály, Leőwey, Művészeti and Szent Mór, with a total of 7 productions.

In the visual arts category, Lajos Nagy, Gandhi, ANK, Janus, Kodály, Leőwey, Művészeti, Babits and Mohács Kisfaludy Károly Gimnázium competed with a total of 9 works.

The Babits, Janus, Kodály, Gandhi, Leőwey, Lajos Nagy and Art students from Pécs will compete among the actors, a total of 7 groups.

In the poetry and prose recitation category, Leőwey, Gandhi, Kodály, Zsolnay Technikum, Művészeti, Szent Mór, Babits, A Tan Kapuja Buddhist High School and Primary School and Zrínyi Miklós High School in Szigetvár, with a total of 9 entries.

A total of 18 students from Baranya entered in the serious music categories, students from Pécs Gandhi High School, Leőwey, Kodály, Zipernowsky, Szent Mór, Zsolnay Vilmos Technikum, Nagy Lajos, Babits, Janus, and Károly Kisfaludy High School in Mohács.

A total of 30 entrants from our county will perform in modern dance, light music, movement art and other categories. Among them will be the students of Pécs’s Gandhi, Művészéti, Kodály, Janus, ANK, Zsolnay Technikus, Lajos Nagy, Leőwey, Babits, Pécs Református College and Miklós Zrínyi High School and Vocational School in Szigetvár.

In the folklore categories, i.e. folk song, folk music, and folk dance genres, 19 groups from Baranya will present themselves, including Kodály, Janus, Leőwey, Gandhi, A Tan Kapuja, Lajos Nagy, and Koch Valéria Gimnázium from Pécs.

Baranya is also well represented in choir categories, 10 productions will be performed. The Laudate mixed choir, girls’ choir and boys’ chamber choir of the Pécs Cistercian Order Nagy Lojos High School, the girls’ choir and mixed choir of the Leőwey Klára High School, the “Béla Bartók” girls’ choir of the Kodály Zoltán High School, the Girls’ Choir of the Janus Pannonius High School, the Babits Chamber Choir of the PTE Gyakorló High School, and the Szent Mór Mixed faculty and girls’ faculty of Catholic High School.

This is a total of 117 productions: the students and schools of Baranya have also put themselves out there this year during the preparation and entry, so all we have to do is support them from Thursday to Saturday.
