Kozármisleny has grown significantly in terms of both inhabited area and population in recent years, and based on the number of births, it can be said that the settlement is getting younger along with it.

– The question of why it is good to be from Kozármisleny can be answered along the lines of our points of pride, which show that the city is constantly developing –

highlighted by dr. Károly Biró, mayor of Kozármisleny.

– Perhaps the most important thing we can be proud of are our child care and child education institutions, which greatly contribute to the rejuvenation of the city core

said the mayor.

– A brand new four-group nursery school opened in the heart of the housing estate, which serves as a playroom for families with small children during the weekend periods. It is also a matter of pride that the second largest kindergarten in the country, with its 12 groups, operates in Kozármisleny, and the elementary school, which recently underwent a comprehensive renovation, has become the largest elementary education institution in Baranya. Children are in a good place in the city from infancy until they finish primary school – that’s why many people choose the settlement. All this is reinforced by the midwifery service operated in the five districts: expectant mothers also feel that they receive sufficient attention

highlighted dr. Károly Biró.

– The next points of pride – said the mayor – are the playgrounds that have been renovated or rebuilt by the municipality in the past period, as well as the complex, multi-functional community spaces that offer various sports and leisure opportunities.

In the same way, the modernized bus stops, which can be said to be almost unique in our country, are also the pride of the city – in recent years, they have been equipped with a modern, electronic, real-time information passenger information system, thereby making public transport more likable. During the modernization of the stops, covered, safe bicycle storage facilities were also created, and a bicycle path network was also built in connection with this.

As dr. Károly Biró pointed out that the sports facilities and the excellent sports infrastructure of the city are also seen as a point of pride – the sports hall connected to the elementary school, which also provides the children with the opportunity for daily physical education, is constantly being modernized, and the complex was recently enriched with solar panels in the spirit of energy saving. The facility also provides a venue for training sessions for athletes and juniors – its utilization is 100 percent. The new, rebuilt football stadium also enriches the sports life, in addition, an ice rink was operated for the second time in winter, and an outdoor handball court was also recently built.

– In addition to all of this, we are proud of the fact that residential buildings are tax-free and that private individuals do not have to pay any taxes to the municipality.

– the mayor of Kozármisleny concluded the list.

A commercial business center can be built in the city limits

The city’s local government also counts on the suggestions of the population when defining the developments – for the first time three years ago, HUF 5 million was allocated to the community budget. Local residents decide what the city will use the money for. Thus, in the recent period, based on suggestions received from residents, for example, solar street lighting was built around the record-breaking running track, but the community budget also provided cover for the financing of dozens of trash cans installed around the park forest, and thanks to this, a parking lot is being built on Március 15. tér, the construction of which it started recently.

This year, the available budget has increased to HUF 10 million – the local government is looking for proposals for low-budget projects that can be implemented within one or two years from Kozármislenyi and increase the comfort of the population.
As dr. Károly Biró, the mayor of Kozármisleny, said that the processing of the proposals received so far has already begun, but they are still waiting for the completed questionnaires. An internet vote will be launched on the submitted ideas, and the project with the most votes will be implemented in the coming period.

The mayor pointed out that, based on other indications from the public, it became clear years ago that the larger-scale project, for which there is significant demand from the city’s residents, is nothing more than another retail center. In response to this, the local government searched for the most suitable area for the purpose, and has now also purchased the affected plots, so that according to the plans, a grocery store will be opened in the future – presumably supplemented by other commercial units – on a 3.5-hectare area at the entrance to the new residential complex. – The interest on the part of the investors is lively, so we have every reason to assume that the necessary agreements for the start of the investment may be reached next year – announced the mayor.

As dr. Károly Biró, the mayor of Kozármisleny, said that the Folk Dance Day, which was launched three years ago by the Józsa Gergely Néptánc Egyesület with the intention of creating a tradition, has now grown into one of the biggest events in the city thanks to the strong support of the municipality.

In connection with the all-day cultural program on April 20, a unique outdoor photo exhibition featuring around 200 national costumes from sixty countries of the world opened next to the Cultural Center in the days leading up to it. The eye-catching Geofolk exhibition, which travels from country to country – which was opened in a ceremonial setting by the photographer Dávid Botond from Székelyföld – this year in Hungary can only be seen in Kozármisleny: those interested could see the exhibition for a week.

Ensembles dressed in folk costumes from nine localities came to the Folk Costume Day in Kozármisleny, held on April 20, this year – during the morning, hundreds of people paraded in the most beautiful costumes in the central part of the city, and in the afternoon, the audience could get to know the bridal costumes more closely in the framework of a presentation, after which a high-quality , the gala program presenting the guest folk dance groups awaited a good number of interested people at the Cultural Center.
As usual, the National Costume Day ended with a traditional street party in the evening.
