After his meeting with Chinese Trade Minister Vang Veng-tao, the head of the ministry announced that a new direct air connection will be established between the two countries, with two weekly flights between Budapest and Shenzhen starting in June.

“This means that from June seven Chinese cities will be accessible by direct flights from Budapest, the number of flights per week will increase to 19, which is one and a half times as many as in the pre-Covid period and much more than any other Central European airport. and city accessibility from China,” he pointed out.

ƒ”The connections between the two countries continue to expand, and thereby provide even better conditions for the development of trade and economic cooperation,” he added.

Just the day before, it was announced that beginning this summer, Hszian will also be directly accessible from Budapest, and not long before, the launch of flights to Guangzhou.

Péter Szijjártó, who will also meet with his local office partner, Vang Ji, during the day, stated after the meeting of the Hungarian-Chinese economic joint committee that both sides have already benefited enormously from the cooperation that they have worked hard to develop in the last decade and a half.

“This mutually beneficial Sino-Hungarian cooperation is clear evidence that the European Union is making a huge mistake when it presents China and cooperation with China as a kind of threat,” he declared.

“We do not see cooperation with China as a threat or a risk, but as a huge opportunity. As a huge chance to take the growth of the Hungarian economy to a new dimension, to a higher level,” he continued.

“Therefore, we oppose any European approach that tries to position China as a threat, (.) that seeks to limit cooperation with China, and we oppose any procedure by the European Union that would make European-Chinese economic cooperation more difficult. That is why we also oppose the planned procedures that the European Union intends to initiate against the Chinese electric car industry sector,” he listed.

He then stated that in the new world economic era, which brings significant changes, it would be important to have close, effective cooperation based on mutual respect between the EU and China.

The minister recalled that last year the largest number of investments came to Hungary from East Asian countries, and called it good news that Beijing continues to support companies in Hungary.

“And we in Hungary provide all the conditions for the investments of these Chinese companies to be quick and successful. Of course, we provide these conditions in the same way to all companies investing in Hungary, regardless of where they come from,” he emphasized.

He also reported on the agreement according to which the Chinese government supports Hungarian companies entering the country on a wide scale.

In this regard, he said that a Hungarian company will start producing medical diagnostic devices in China in the second half of this year, while our country’s presence is also prominent in the pharmaceutical industry, which is well demonstrated by the fact that Richter has increased its revenue here by more than 20 percent in two years.

He pointed out that, among the Central European states, Hungary has the most food industry export licenses to China, which is considered an important receiving market, and exports provide opportunities for the further development of the Hungarian food industry.

He also stated that an agreement has now been reached on the start of negotiations on the regionalization agreement, so in the event of an outbreak of bird flu or swine fever, the import ban would only apply to the given region, and poultry and pork products from other parts of the country could continue to be exported to China without disturbance.

Finally, he announced that he would later meet with Chinese company leaders, and that he would hopefully be able to announce another investment in Hungary.
