Based on the government’s decision, since 1992, the Police Day has been held in Hungary on April 24, St. George’s Day. Saint George the Slayer was for centuries the patron saint of knights, gunsmiths, horsemen and wandering lads. Today it belongs to the scouts and the police.

The government also commemorated the important day, publishing a post on Facebook thanking the police for their exemplary service.

The police also made a video for the occasion.

Recognitions

Police officers and police workers received awards at the staff meeting held on the occasion of Police Day. Ferenc Vörös r. brigadier general, county police chief handed over a total of 44 awards. He also awarded two firefighters and two professional hunters, reports police.hu.

He presented the Békés county “Police Officer of the Year” awards, which were awarded in the policing category to Zoltán Bordács. the chief flag officer, the patrol commander of the Békéscsaba Police Department could take over. On behalf of the criminal service, Csaba Tóth r. Captain, head of the sub-department of the Békés Police Department, earned the honorary title. Among the border guards, István Orosz r. flag-bearer, service commander of the Battonya Border Police Branch, became the “Policeman of the Year”.

Among the police departments and border police branches, the title of “Local Organization of the Year” was awarded to the staff of the Békési Police Department. The title of “Border Hunter of the Year” was earned by Border Hunter Corporal László Birkás, and seven police officers received the title of “Employee of the Year”.
