Balatonlelle resident Cs. G., who had been repeatedly banned from fishing and hit with serious fines, could not stand it, and despite the serious condemnation decisions, he went fishing again on Lake Balaton twice. Both times he was caught by the fish guards, and based on the decisions of the fish management authority, he was fined three million HUF.

Cs. G., a resident of Balatonlelle, is a repeat poacher, he is already well known by the fish wardens, and he has had several problems with the fisheries management authority.

His story began on April 23, 2023, when, after leaving his fishing spot in the Balatonboglár area, he did not enter the fish he caught in his catch log. He still had a valid license at the time, but it was revoked and he was fined HUF 105,000 and banned for 18 months.

However, this did not deter him from picking up a fishing rod again. He did this twice, and unfortunately he met with the authorities on August 27th and September 26th, and received more fines and bans. As a result of the three fish watch inspections, he collected a total of HUF 498,750 in payments and was banned from fishing for 72 months, i.e. six years.

The queue here is not long yet, in fact, the best thing to say is that it is only now coming! The Somogy County Fisheries Authority has published new decisions concerning the recalcitrant Cs. G.

These show that on October 6, Balatonboglár and four days later, on October 10, they were caught fishing without a license in the area of Balatonlelle. The fines are sky high.

First he received HUF 1,196,016 and a 36-month ban from fishing, then HUF 1,794,023 and 36 months. This is a total of HUF 2,990,039 and 72 months.

If we add to this the fines of the previous three cases in 2023, the total is HUF 3,488,789 and 144 months, i.e. 12 years. You can even buy a brand new car with that much money.

Since the decisions of the Somogy County Fisheries Authority were only posted on the website of the Balatoni Halfalzódáksi Nonprofit Zrt. (BHNp Zrt.) only a few days ago, it is still conceivable that cases from 2023 may still appear.

In any case, it can already be stated that the sum of Cs. G.’s fines collected on five occasions (HUF 3,488,789) already exceeds the performance of F. Gy., who collected fines of HUF 2,225,475 for four offenses last year, and for 100 months, i.e. 8.33 banned from fishing for a year.

The Veszprém County Government Office wrote to Pecaverzum’s previous press inquiry that if the violator does not comply with the payment of the fine, the office will hand over the fine decisions to the executive authority for enforcement. They also said that there is no permanent ban on fishing.
