A suspended prison sentence may be imposed on the woman from Székesfehérvár who caused damage to forty-seven victims by posting false advertisements.

According to the indictment, for more than a year from September 2020, the perpetrator advertised various household items – drills, clothes, toys – for sale on internet sites, even though he did not have them, using images downloaded from the internet for the ads. The woman used fictitious names and a profile picture saved from the Internet for the ads in order to keep her identity hidden. The perpetrator asked the victims to pay the purchase price of the ordered products, the purchase price advance, and sometimes the postage in advance. The victims transferred the amounts not exceeding HUF 50,000 to the bank account provided by the woman in her own name.

Among the forty-seven victims, a woman from Esztergom applied for an advertisement for an artificial nail builder package, and on March 29, 2021, she transferred HUF 11,000 as the purchase price of the package to the fraudster’s bank account. A man from Tatabánya applied for an advertisement for a tripod drilling machine, and on November 10, 2021, he transferred HUF 15,000 to the perpetrator.

In the case initiated due to the offense of fraud, the Tatabánya District Prosecutor’s Office made a motion in the indictment that the Tatabánya District Court impose a suspended prison sentence, HUF 108,930 asset confiscation against the woman with a criminal record, without a trial, and order her to compensate the victims who submitted a civil claim.
