In certain plants of Dunai Finomító, we carry out pre-scheduled periodic maintenance between April 20 and June 24,

can be read in Dunai Finomító’s Hello Dufi mobile application.

According to the relevant rationale, periodic maintenance it serves the safe operation of the refinery’s equipment and increases its service life. According to Mol, an additional benefit to maintenance is that through our technological developments during shutdowns “more efficient, safer and more sustainableDuring the maintenance period, repairs, renovations, and replacements are carried out in the plants, which are carried out by the oil company with the controlled and supervised shutdown of the plant in question.

With regard to the effects perceptible to the population, they said that the works associated with the shutdown in the refinery’s environment may cause an unusual phenomenon, primarily during the preparation for the shutdown and during the restart. It takes 3-6 days to prepare the plants for shutdown, and 2-3 days to restart the plants after repairs, during which period they carry out several technological activities that may have an impact on the surrounding settlements, such as increased noise, spectacular flaring, and unpleasant odors .

Mol’s decision is important in the current situation because tomorrow the government will discuss a possible new fuel price freeze, which, based on the previous example, can even lead to a security of supply risk,

and this concern can be even stronger if the Dunai Finomító is only partially operational.

Past examples also support this: the measure was still in place in July 2022, when the maintenance of the refinery became necessary, which caused a difficult situation for the supply of gasoline in the country, which the government responded by narrowing the scope of the price cap measure and by preempting strategic stocks reacted.

Tamás Pletser, Erste’s energy analyst, told VG that “in such refineries, repairs are usually done every year, and a complete shutdown every five years. DuFi has already overcome the latter.

The fact that they are doing it now is, in my opinion, completely normal and usual, because these works are tied to a time window: it is not good to carry out either too cold or too hot

he explained. According to him, the intermittent stoppage of the Száhahalombatta refinery it should not affect the fuel supply.
