Let’s fill the playground sandboxes with toys!

--

The representative group of Híd a Városért is organizing its Children’s Day action again: again this year, the people of Veszprém are waiting for those toys that are used but still in good condition, which will be placed in the city’s playgrounds on the occasion of Children’s Day.

The action was first announced in 2020 by the local representatives of the MSZP together with the LMP and Párbeszéd, embracing a public action, during which parents placed bored but still usable toys on the playgrounds to the delight of the children. In addition to this, they primarily collected sandbox toys, shovels, buckets, molds, and grapples, but they also received scooters, which were displayed in 4-5 playgrounds in the city, including Sólyi Street, Pöltenberger Street and the Halle housing estate.

The collection campaign will continue this year, now with the support of the Híd a Várossért Egyesület. Donations are accepted from April 23 to May 20 at the office of the MSZP at 9 Kereszt utca, Veszprém on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., which, supplemented with toys purchased from their own resources, will also be placed on the city’s playgrounds before Children’s Day – especially those with fences they are surrounded, of course they have a sand pit and are bordered by residential buildings.

Attila Somfai, the association’s candidate for municipal representative, revealed that they were very pleased that the residents of the area carried on their initiative, updated the toys with new elements, and also took care of the existing ones and kept them in order. According to Somfai, it is important that as many grassroots initiatives as possible receive support, so for example, they hope that in the future the public exchange point campaign embraced by VKSZ will be able to continue and that similar ones will be established in as many points of the city as possible.

As for the playgrounds, municipal representative Ferenc Hartmann added that in the future, they would like drinking fountains and, if possible, shaders to be placed in these places, as climate change is increasingly felt, our summers are getting hotter, and at this time a few sips of water and a little shade are extremely important. . That is why they are taking the initiative to include this aspect in future playground developments.
