For these Hungarian cars, the odometer is most often turned back

--

Winding back the odometer of cars is still a popular fraud in Hungary. It is surprising which types it occurs most often.

In modern cars it is much easier to manipulate the odometer, as they do not require physical intervention that can be recognized afterwards. It is therefore understandable that the reset of the mileage is the most common for premium brands, as it is much easier to sell a car with less mileage.

It is followed by the Jeep Grand Cherokee, the Audi A8, the Opel Vectra and the Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class. Overall, such fraud was experienced in 6.07 percent of the cars checked, and they return an average of 74,000 kilometers per hour.

Based on carVertical data, the twenty most common mileage frauds in Hungary affect four models each from Audi, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz and Opel.

The company also collected the rarest fake mileage cars from its database. The Volkswagen Touran leads here, with a rate of 5.13 percent.
