The renovated premises of the Department of Clinical Physiology in Debrecen were handed over

The renovated premises of the Department of Clinical Physiology operating in the building of the Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery Clinic of the University of Debrecen Clinical Center were handed over. With the development, the conditions of teaching and research work, which are closely related to clinical patient care, further improved in the institution – read on unideb.hu.

– Our important objective is to ensure the close unity and unbroken development of the triad of patient care, education and research, in accordance with the university’s role. The renovation of the new departmental research laboratory, which operates in close symbiosis with the clinic, is a very good example of this – emphasized Professor Zoltán Szabó, president of the Clinical Center.

Continuous development

The new research and teaching facilities of the Department of Clinical Physiology operate in the Cardiology and Heart Surgery Clinic. The modernization, which raises the standard of patient care and promotes the scientific development and teaching activities of clinical specialists, was supported by the Clinical Center.

– The healing activities of the Clinical Center cannot be imagined without the presence of qualified professionals with a scientific approach and teaching experience. According to our expectations, the renewed research laboratory and department premises will greatly contribute to the future scientific results of our colleagues involved in patient care and to the development of their teaching activities. Professor Zoltán Szabó pointed out that this process continues with unbroken dynamics in the manner started by the great predecessors, contributing to the further strengthening of the reputation and results of the University of Debrecen.

The President of the Clinical Center added: the system was established during the leadership of Professor István Édes at the Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery Clinic, which, with the support of the current clinic director, Professor Zoltán Csanádi, continues to ensure the close cooperation of patient care with research and education, greatly helping the specialists’ scientific and professional advancement.

The cooperation is exemplary

– The Cardiology and Heart Surgery Clinic has a significant tradition of effective cooperation between education, research and clinical patient care, which is exemplary for all other organizational units. It is also thanks to this joint work and common thinking that even during my activity as clinic director, between 1994 and 2017, an average of two PhD students graduated from the clinic every year, added Professor István Édes, former director of the clinic.

The current development enables high-quality scientific and educational work to continue under optimal conditions.

Zoltán Papp, head professor of the Department of Clinical Physiology of the DE General Faculty of Medicine, explained their activities and said: their scientific investigations are always connected to modern cardiology care, be it drug development or some kind of biomarker research.

After the handover ceremony, Professor Zoltán Papp led the management of the Clinical Center around the renovated premises, including the new biochemical laboratory.
