The Ministry of Construction and Transport (ÉKM) information according to currently at the site of the investment planned for the Rákosrendező station area

The removal of waste, which in many cases has a serious health-damaging effect, is in the interest of the people living in the area and all of Budapest. The situation so far has apparently not bothered the people living there or the affected district governments, but the ministry will create a healthy, orderly and developing environment for the people living there and for all Budapest residents – the ministry informed Népssava.

According to this, the assessment of the municipal and other waste in the area of ​​the cancer center has already been carried out

• the size of the area affected by the surface landfill is 126,425 square meters (12.6 hectares),
• the total estimated amount of illegally disposed waste exceeds 190,000 cubic meters.

A significant part of the latter is harmful to health, so unauthorized persons cannot stay in the area when it is removed, which is why it was urgent to evacuate the area to be developed.

Currently, public tenders aimed at waste disposal and damage remediation are being compiled.

According to the plans, the waste clearance will last until the end of this year. However, the assessment of the subsurface pollution and the planning of the technical solution suitable for the removal will only be completed by September 2025. Construction can only begin after the remediation has been completed

The paper also contacted the Metropolitan Disaster Management Directorate, inquiring about what caused the railway sleepers to catch fire two weeks ago in the area of ​​the discontinued tracks, but received only this answer:

They added that the disaster prevention mobile lab carried out measurements in a hundred-meter radius of the fire and in a residential area during the extinguishing. No dangerous substance above the limit value was detected in a residential area, the smell of smoke could be felt in the area.
