Fraudsters want to obtain bank data in the Miskolc municipal campaign – Borsod24

There is nothing surprising about fraud in a political campaign. The question is whether political opponents or narrow-minded profiteers are misusing the names of candidates.

Függetlenek SZIVE – i.e. Függetlenek A Szinva Városásárt Egyesület – issued a statement that phone fraudsters are abusing their name. The campaign for the 2024 EP and municipal elections began on Saturday, and they are trying to extort money from the people of Miskolc by referring to their candidate. The candidate of Függetlenek SZIVE for the position of mayor of Miskolc is Andrea Klára Varga, who is currently one of Miskolc’s deputy mayors.

Telephone fraudsters call in his name and try to obtain the bank account details of the called party, referring to the election campaign.

The association emphasizes: “these calls do not come from us, and the SZIVE of the Independents and its electoral allies certainly do not collect donations for their social campaign by phone”.

In the announcement issued on Monday, the public is asked not to provide any personal data or information about their bank account and if they receive such a phone call, it is best to hang up the phone and notify the police, or inform their friends about the phenomenon.

The team behind Andrea Varga is going to the municipal elections with independent candidates in all eighteen districts of Miskolc, supported by the Jobbik-Conservatives, the Momentum Movement, the Association of Local Civilians and the People’s Party for Everyone’s Hungary.

Dr. László Barkai, who collected signatures already on Saturday, is supported by the Democratic Coalition (DK), the Hungarian Socialist Party (MSZP), Párbeszéd – the Green Party (PM), LMP – the Green Party of Hungary (LMP) and the Democratic Union of Local Patriots, his association is also starting in all 18 districts.
