In addition to spectacular skills competitions, firefighting professional lectures and demonstrations, leisure, cultural, sports and gastronomic events, a demonstration tour of “oldtimer” firefighting vehicles with museum value, stand out from the offer, and a festive parade is also held in the most beautiful squares and streets of the city. This year’s meeting of delegates and the board meeting of the International Star Tour Organizing Committee will be held in the Almásy Castle. The festival tent, which can accommodate more than a thousand people, also offers opportunities for friendly meetings and conversations.

The International Fire Star Tour has a long tradition

The International Fire Star Tours look back on a long tradition, among the locations so far, in addition to Austrian, German, Swiss, Slovenian, Italian, Danish and Polish settlements, Gyula has already appeared twice, and this year they are hosting the event for the third time. József Dudaszeg pointed out that the XXIV. The Hungarian organizer of the International Fire Star Tour is the Foundation for the Survival of Volunteer Fire Bands and the Blue Lamp Association.

New developments in Gyul

Dr. Ernő Görgényi, the mayor of Gyula, said that this is the third time that the International Firefighter Star Tour is being organized in Gyula: “All this is a great recognition for the city,” he emphasized. As he pointed out, several developments are being completed or have been completed this year, which will further strengthen the tourist attraction of the city.

– Our strategic goal is to strengthen the four-season nature of the city in terms of tourism, that is, we await guests with attractions that offer visitors experiences regardless of the season or weather, he said. – The program entitled Complex tourism development of the city of Gyula will be completed next month. The project consists of three elements, the complex renovation of the 100-year-old pastry shop, the renovation of the Ladics house, and the creation of a bicycle path that is also important from an active tourism point of view.

With the support of the government, several improvements have been made and are being completed in the Gyula Castle Spa. In August 2022, the Water Children’s Paradise, which is special even in domestic comparisons and contains unique elements, was first handed over in August 2022. The following project elements are currently underway, the main building is being remodeled and expanded by about 1,000 square meters. As part of this, a Beauty Massage Salon was created, and the massage department of medicine was also created. Staff changing rooms have been established, and a new changing room with 372 cupboards and a new washroom block has been completed and is being handed over to guests. The same tender also includes the renovation of the indoor thermal bath of the historic Lovarda, which provides more modern and nicer conditions for visitors. The mayor drew attention to the fact that during the star tour, Kossuth Rádió’s Országjór program will be present in Gyul, which continuously broadcasts the events.

The first quarter went well

Aliz Komoróczki said that they help the organizers with their specialists in preparing publications in German for the guests coming to the festival, and they also help the organizers and the visitors with other promotional and informational materials. They also participate in providing information and offering programs. The managing director called it important that unique program offerings continuously appear in the city. He pointed out that the city has a lot of returning guests.

Aliz Komoróczki explained that in the first quarter of this year, 39,434 guests stayed at Gyula’s accommodations, 1 percent more than in the same period last year. The guests spent 90 thousand 226 nights at the accommodations, 6 percent more than in the first quarter of last year.

So far, firefighters and their family members from Slovenia, Sweden, Austria, Germany, Denmark and Poland have signed up for the star tour.
