At the counter, recommendations were collected for the local candidate of Fidesz, the current municipal representative, László Szatmáry.
But Szathmáry did not stop outside the building. In the hall of the building, together with the director, he welcomed those who came to pick up their children and those interested in visiting the kindergarten, and even gave a speech to the parents and the children there.
László Szatmáry sees no problem in the case. According to the Fidesz representative, he has been a representative in the area for 18 years, and is known to the people, as well as the heads of schools and kindergartens. “They regularly ask me to say a few sentences, to give my opinion about the kindergarten to the parents, to listen to their suggestions,” he added. According to him, for example, the kindergarten yard and the entire kindergarten building were renovated after such conversations.
“Since it’s campaign season and I’m also running for election, I’ll be stationed everywhere, giving voters the opportunity to support me and answer their questions,” he added. However, according to his opinion, he did not violate the law. He did not answer the question about what he did inside the building and whether he considers it a campaign.
“According to the Public Education Act, parties or organizations linked to parties may not engage in activities for political purposes during childcare time in kindergartens, schools or colleges, such organizations may not operate on the premises of the institution,” he told Free Europe.
