The National Bureau of Investigation has ordered an investigation into the renovation of the Chain Bridge due to official bribery, Fidesz politician Gyula Budai said in a video published on his Facebook page on Tuesday.

The ruling party politician stated that he had recently filed a complaint for official bribery, because according to a letter sent to him, Vig Mór, the protagonist of the Chain Bridge renovation scandal, went to the office of Árgus Security in the Mammut department store to settle accounts with the head of the security company, and the cash handed over by Vig Mór reached the town hall through intermediaries.

Gyula Budai: Karácsony should respond to the renovation case

According to Fidesz’s Gyula Budai, Mayor Gergely Karácsony should respond to the matter related to the renovation of the Chain Bridge.

The KEHI established that “A-Híd Zrt., which carried out the renovation of the Chain Bridge, repeatedly transferred more than one and a half billion forints to Vig Mór’s company”, and the company then transferred this to Vig Mór’s private account and lawyer’s escrow account. From there, Mór Vig took HUF 900 million in cash. Vig Mór’s company also transferred HUF 500 million to the escrow account of another lawyer, which was also withdrawn in cash. “Well, these funds reached the City Hall through intermediaries” – remarked the Fidesz politician.

Based on all this, the investigative office ordered an investigation. From then on, Gergely Karácsony and the owners of Árgus Security and A-híd Zrt. will have to answer the authority’s questions – said Gyula Budai.
