As part of Valeo eAutomotive Hungary Kft.’s program, the company’s representatives planted trees in the yard of Bóbita Körzeti Óvoda in Veszprém together with the kindergarten children on Monday morning.
On the occasion of Earth Day, various programs are organized around the world in the name of sustainability and environmental awareness. Veszprém kindergartens have a long tradition of the special day, in Bóbita kindergarten, children and parents alike were welcomed with several activities as part of the open day.
The “world of bees” was the central theme, during which beekeepers were also hosted within the institution’s walls, who told the children about the life and hard work of insects and the secrets of honey production. The educational program was accompanied by a craft session, where the children made decorations for the walls of the kindergarten from recycled materials, for example, the bodies of the bees were reimagined from the gift plastic boxes found in the chocolate eggs.
Then came the gardening, VALEO provided the birch trees, which were planted with the enthusiastic participation of the small groups and with the help of their own small garden tools in honor of Earth Day and the upcoming Bird and Tree Day.
In addition to Bóbita Óvoda, three other kindergartens also participate in the program – Veszprémi Egry Úti Körzeti Óvoda, Cholnoky Jenő Lakótelepi Tagóvoda, Veszprémi Ringató Körzeti Óvoda – as each institution proudly bears the title of “Green Kindergarten” and considers it of utmost importance that young children are environmentally conscious education as well.
“We did not inherit the Earth from our fathers, we borrowed it from our grandchildren,” goes the saying, which comes from the famous environmental activist David Brower.
