Hungary has made it to the top of the happy list

--

The first was born in 2012 World Happiness Report, which evaluates the happiness of the world’s countries on a scale of 1-10, taking into account several factors. This is the comparison in connection with which everyone knows that Finland has been the happiest country in the world for many years now.

However, it is not only worth looking at who is currently happy, but also how the state of happiness of individual countries has changed. In the first survey, which was based on data collected between 2006 and 2010, the difference between, for example, Western and Eastern Europe was quite large. Nowadays, this difference is disappearing, for example, people under the age of 30 feel equally well all over Europe.

Since its inception, a total of twenty countries in the world have improved their happiness level by at least one whole point. Hungary is among themso we are also on the list of countries that are becoming happier at the fastest rate.

Place Country How many points did your happiness level improve? Latest Happiness Level (2024)
1. Serbia 1.8 6.4
2. Bulgaria 1.6 5.5
3. Latvia 1.5 6.2
4. Republic of the Congo 1.4 5.2
5. Romania 1.3 6.5
6. China 1.3 6.0
7. Georgia 1.3 5.2
8. Lithuania 1.2 6.8
9. Philippines 1.2 6.0
10. Togo 1.2 4.2
11. Nicaragua 1.2 6.3
12. Kosovo 1.1 6.6
13. Mongolia 1.1 5.7
14. Estonia 1.1 6.4
15. HUNGARY 1.1 6.0
16. Bosnia and Herzegovina 1.0 5.9
17. North Macedonia 1.0 5.4
18. Armenia 1.0 5.5
19. Uzbekistan 1.0 6.2
20. Kyrgyzstan 1.0 5.7

The result is nice, and even though our current happiness exceeds the world average (6 points vs. 5.5 points), we cannot yet declare that we are so happy. The Finns, for example, are world leaders with 7.7 points, but you can’t even get into the top ten with a score below 7 points. Our six points in 2024 were enough for 56th place out of the 143 countries examined.
