The ombudsman’s investigation also found that the home’s management learned about the incident afterwards, the home’s manager interviewed the child, who, according to the minutes, admitted that the child supervisor had sexual contact with him.

In relation to the case, the Chief Prosecutor’s Office of the Capital City stated that last spring, the man – taking advantage of his position of power – committed a sexual act with a minor entrusted to his supervision in a Budapest children’s home.

According to the suspicion, the man committed sexual acts with another teenager several times, but he did not live in the children’s home. According to the prosecutor’s office, he established a relationship of trust with him, offered him alcohol and drugs, and then took advantage of the minor’s intoxicated state. On one occasion, when the minor rejected his approach, the man even hit him.

The detained man was suspected of sexual abuse, sexual violence against a minor and other crimes. The defendant no longer works at the institution.

The investigating judge in the case agreed with the prosecution’s proposal and ordered the arrest of the suspect due to the risk of escape and concealment, influencing the evidence and repeating the crime. The order is not yet final.
