Aunt Erzsike Tiborné Hajdu, who has lived in Debrecen for seven decades, turned 90 in February. On the occasion of the significant day, on April 23, candidate János Sánta and Judit Tóth-Vanka, an employee of the social department of the mayor’s office, greeted him at his home.
Aunt Erzsike worked very hard to support her family
Aunt Erzsike is indeed living a happy retired life: she can boast of eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. He was happy to report that his family members had settled in Budapest and other rural towns, and that everyone had managed to buy their own property. Aunt Erzsike also played a big role in this, as she worked very hard to support her children until she was 55 years old. Among other things, he worked for a civil engineering company as a cashier for about 15 years, and as a cleaner at the Debrecen Vocational Training Center Commercial and Hospitality Technical School and Vocational School for about a decade.
One of his two brothers worked in the office of the Nyírábrányi Termelőszötvekezet, and died at the age of 80. His sister was struggling with a serious illness, unfortunately she did not even reach her 50th year. Aunt Erzsike’s first husband graduated in economics and worked as a chief accountant at the former ÁFÉSZ (General Consumer and Sales Cooperative). Aunt Erzsike married a second time to a mining engineer from Ózd, Tibor Hajdu, but they lived together for only three years due to the early death of his partner. Unfortunately, the celebrant was beset by further tragedies: he lost both of his sons within a year.
The 90-year-old aunt from Debrecen buys and pays the utilities at the post office alone
Aunt Erzsike is in good health: she does not allow her family members to shop for her, she usually goes to the nearby store herself. He often buys potatoes, because his favorite food is casseroles. In addition, he even stands in line at the post office, according to what he says, he always pays his bills on time with a bank card. In addition, he can claim to be from Debrecen by blood: he moved to the city of Cívis when he was 20 years old, i.e. 70 years ago, he has lived in his current home since 1991, and before that he lived on Honvéd Street.
