The sustainability theme week of Mihály Táncsics High School started off extremely busy. On April 22, an ECO-EU-DAY was prepared for the students, where, in addition to environmental awareness, the European Union and related information played the biggest role. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of joining the Union, Judit Szarka, head of the Europe Direkt Peace Office, held interactive classes for the young people, before the event was crowned with a competition at the end of the day.

At eight o’clock in the morning, the sustainability theme week started with an ÖKO-EU run at Táncsics Mihály High School: the students warmed up for the all-day event with a joint run in the courtyard. Director Krisztina Árusné Erős revealed that since the institution has been the Ambassador School of the European Parliament since 2019, they have now added their traditional event related to the European Union to their thematic week.

– Today, our guest came from the office of Europe Direkt in Pécs. After the run, office manager Judit Szarka prepared the students with interactive lessons about the most important information about the European Union, but the elections were also discussed in an unusual lesson, said the director. – Today’s subtitle, the natural attractions of the European Union and the local values ​​of Orosháza. I think it is very important that we also know our immediate surroundings in order to truly feel at home. And we can pass on these local values, he added.

At the opening, Áron Horváth, one of the students of the high school, explained the most important information about the event, and then handed over the imaginary stage to the 10.A class, who performed a short dance production. Before the competition that closed the event, the students were treated to one more interactive presentation. In connection with the ECO-EU-DAY, Judit Szarka again spoke about the most important things about the European Green Agreement.

After that, there was nothing left but 7-8. a competition organized for students in the first grade, where teams of three students from the Táncsics Mihály High School and the Református Two Teaching Language Primary School competed against each other.
