A suspended prison sentence may be imposed on the woman who stole various products four times from the stores of a supermarket chain in Esztergom and two in Budapest.
According to the indictment, the perpetrator stole different products from a store chain in Esztergom and two in Budapest four times on April 10, 2022, April 20, 2022, May 18, 2022 and May 19, 2022. The woman hid the products in her bag and left the stores without paying, in two cases she was stopped by the security guard.
In the Esztergom case, on April 10, 2022, at the self-service checkout line, the woman put various cosmetic products, bizsu accessories, vegetables, sweets, Mireli goods from the shopping cart into her bag without scanning their barcodes and without paying for them, their total value: HUF 77,329. The woman was detained by the store’s security guard based on the indication of the goods protection gate. HUF 39,535 of the stolen value was recovered, as some of the products were not damaged, but HUF 37,794 worth of products were damaged, making them unsalable.
The total value of the theft committed against three stores of the supermarket chain: HUF 504,924, of which HUF 96,044 was not recovered.
The Esztergom District Prosecutor’s Office filed an indictment against the woman for the crime of continuous theft of a larger value. In the indictment, he made a motion for suspended imprisonment and for the court to oblige the perpetrator to compensate the victim.
