Debrecen can host the best European University Games ever

The European University Games are just a few weeks away, organized jointly by the cities of Debrecen and Miskolc, as well as the University of Debrecen and the University of Miskolc. The technical delegation of the European University Sports Association was personally informed about the preparations in Debrecen at the beginning of April, and they were also convinced that the preparation of the facilities is proceeding at the best possible pace – read on hirek.unideb.hu.

The goal of the University of Debrecen is to organize a safe and memorable competition, and it will host the delegations of the European University Games (EUG) in July in orderly conditions in compliance with all international rules – it was announced at the last professional meeting of the organizing committee.

Two universities, seventeen sports

For the large-scale multi-sport event in July, around 5,000 athletes from around 400 universities in 40 countries are expected to come to Debrecen and Miskolc in 17 sports. The organizing committee of the EUG is constantly working to ensure that everything is in order at the end of July, so in addition to complying with international rules, safe conduct is also a priority. To this end, they met with the local security and authority bodies and discussed the most important remaining tasks. It was said at the meeting: the goal is to make the competitions held at the Debrecen venues memorable for the participating athletes and fans, so that everyone can fight for success without distraction.

“This is more than a sporting event.” It is a major event between universities of international importance, where young people can participate in noble competition and promote the good name of the University of Debrecen and the city. Hundreds of athletes and their companions will arrive in Debrecen, so special attention will have to be paid to ensure that they feel safe and that they can compete and support in a good mood. The event also plays a central role for the sustaining foundation, and the University of Debrecen should participate in more similar events in the future.
