The Pest County Prosecutor’s Office brought charges against a woman who stabbed her sleeping husband for the crime of attempted murder against a defenseless person.
According to the indictment, the woman and the man had been married for more than a decade before the crime. Their relationship has deteriorated in the last five years, and divorce has been discussed several times between them. Their quarrels were daily, which was contributed to by the fact that they both consumed alcohol on a daily basis.
On June 1, 2023, in the afternoon, in their home in Szigethalm, they had another fight because the man did not give the woman more drinks, he hid it from her in the house. During the argument, the woman threatened to kill the man and slapped him.
Later in the evening, after the man had gone to sleep in the bedroom. The woman then took a knife with a blade length of 20 centimeters in the kitchen, went to the bedroom with it and stabbed it in the chest of the man who was sleeping there. The man woke up to the stabbing, ran out of the house and asked for help from the neighbor, who notified the ambulance and the police.
As a result of the stabbing, the man was in a life-threatening condition, but considering the method and means of the attack, the absence of a more serious result was only due to chance.
