The victim and his girlfriend were in a shopping center in Békéscsaba on October 26 last year, where they met the man and his group of friends. During the conversation, the woman questioned the man as to why he did not give her the HUF 3,000 debt, which led to a minor argument between them. Because of this, the man resented the victim and later robbed the woman.
He robbed the woman he knew
The two companies separated after that, but that same day, in the late evening hours, they met again on Andrássy út, in front of one of the drink measuring places, which was already closed at the time, says the statement of the Békés County Prosecutor General’s Office. From there, the members of the company went to the underpass of the bus station and then to the washroom there. Here, one of the women in the company of the man asked the victim if he could lend her HUF 1,000. The victim took out his wallet from his bag on his shoulder – which contained HUF 83,000 in cash – to hand over the requested amount, but then the man took the wallet out of his hand. The victim immediately reached for her wallet and grabbed it, as a result of the scuffle that ensued, the woman fell to the ground and pressed her wallet to her stomach in a “fetal position”. The man did not give up his act even then, pulling the wallet vigorously, he continued to try to snatch it from the victim’s hand, who by then was constantly shouting for help. The man eventually managed to get the wallet, then ran away from the scene. While fleeing, the man took the cash from the victim’s wallet and threw away the wallet, which was eventually found and returned by the victim’s girlfriend near the scene. The damage caused was not compensated.
They asked for a prison sentence to be executed
The district attorney’s office, in its indictment, which also included a moderate motion in case of the man’s confession, primarily proposed that the court keep the man’s arrest pending the announcement of the first-instance verdict. In addition, he made a motion for the court to sentence the man to a prison sentence to be executed, to ban him from practicing public affairs, and to judge the merits of the civil claim reported by the victim, to grant it, i.e. to oblige the defendant to compensate the victim for the damage caused.
