We managed to reach out to those who, despite their young age, take learning and passing on the knowledge of their ancestors seriously, and devote a lot of time and energy to this work – said Márkusné Vörös in the summary of the Hajnalka General Assembly, which was held in the Kisfaludy room of the county library.

After the adoption of the nine-point agenda, association member Györgyi Szabóné Vörös, librarian, praised the activities of the association members, researchers, lecturers, people who were outstanding in their work on nationalism, who died last year, and who were remembered by the general assembly with a one-minute silence and farewell thoughts.

The president presented the activities of last year, which was also exemplary in that the association took the lion’s share in the implementation of the programs taking place in the framework of the European Capital of Culture season. A report on the successes and experiences achieved in the tender activities and the management of the association followed, and then the participants got to know the draft program of the association this year.

The event ended with a book presentation, where we heard about two newly published publications. Among others, the former ancestor of the historian Mihály Zichy, gr. He presented József Zichy’s Asian and American travel diary written between 1875-77, and then we got to know the bilingual (Hungarian-German) book by Szandra Holczinger and Gergely Wagenhoffer, Bakonyszücs’ reading book, which exemplifies the history, ethnography, linguistic and musical heritage of the village. In addition to thorough literature and archival research, the two young researchers used interviews with 150 people and families, family photos and documents to write the book.

More and more people are applying for admission to the Veszprém County Heritage Association, which has 130 members in 54 settlements of the county, and they have also managed to appeal to young people. They report on their programs and results in several forums and organize community programs to learn about values.
