Budapest Art Cosmos, the Hampton by Hilton Budapest City Centre’s contemporary art series, started on Monday.

The newest Budapest hotel of the global chain that has been operating for more than 100 years and in 120 countries on Dessewffy Street is not only made special by the presence of the legendary Hampton waffles or the presence of dogs as permitted travel companions, but from now on the guest experience reminiscent of home is also combined with a direct art experience.

The recently opened hotel with the Kisterem gallery and Lili Horváth together with an art consultant, he launched the Budapest Art Cosmos initiative, which aims to support Hungarian artistic talents and offer visitors captivating cultural programs. The series Mundane Romance by conceptual artist Judit Fischer. debuts with his solo exhibition, which is open to all interested parties until August.

One of the most popular of the chain’s 22 sub-brands is the pet- and family-friendly Hampton by Hilton, which, after opening in the region in Vienna, Warsaw and Marosvásárhely, also arrived in Budapest in the fall of 2023. The downtown hotel’s 219 stylish and comfortable rooms and lobby bar follow the brand’s recently renewed design.

Hilton’s commitment to supporting the arts is not new. Their hotels in Hungary have also regularly supported the temporary exhibitions of the Museum of Fine Arts and the Hungarian National Gallery for years, and in several of their American, Italian and French hotels, their guests can also see original works of art by such world classics as Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol or John Baldessari.

However, the initiative of their latest hotel in Budapest can be considered unique, as its aim is not to purchase works of art that serve as permanent decoration from a single artist or from a narrow circle, but – true to the central value of the brand, cultural diversity – to create a living and continuously renewing, long-term platform, young and middle-generation, established and emerging contemporary Hungarian visual artists on the international scene for both.

The first exhibition of the series was realized with the professional and operative cooperation of Kisterem, which represents more than 25 highly rated artists at prestigious international fairs and is one of the most decisive contemporary commercial galleries not only in Hungary, but also in the Central European region, which has been operating for almost 20 years now.
